Stop Squawking

Prices are too high only if you don’t know how to cook.  Then all you can make is steak. But haute cuisine can be very inexpensive — low-cost cuts of meat simmered in wine and herbs for a long, long time. Don’t complain about high prices. For God’s sake, learn to cook and stop squawking!

I came across that quote today (she said it in 1972) and it’s just as relevant today.  I don’t think of my cooking as haute cuisine.  I’m a pretty good home cook, not a chef by any stretch, but I do insist on making most things from scratch and pushing myself in the kitchen to use new ingredients and expand my skills.

Don’t be scared. Get in the kitchen and learn!
